A laser passes through a lens and strikes a photorefractive crystal

The Photonics Laboratory has two unique specializations not found in other Photonics laboratories in the country:

  • photorefractive crystals–volume holography
  • polymer optics–biomimetics, tunable gratings
The laboratory has also been very active in wide range of topics such as Bessel beams and fluorescence.  Students who join the Photonics laboratory usually gets their undergraduate thesis published in international peer-reviewed journals.
